Ghanaian writer and journalist Portia Arthur has been featured as one of the 40 Most Inspirational Female Leaders in Ghana for 2025.

This prestigious recognition, organized by The Young Global Leaders Network, celebrates women who are driving transformative change across various sectors in Ghana and beyond.

Widely known for her impactful storytelling and commitment to promoting literacy, she joins an esteemed list of women making significant contributions in fields such as academia, entrepreneurship, governance, and media. 

Her career began at Pulse Ghana, where she gained recognition for her insightful reporting. Inspired by challenges she observed in local communities, she launched the ‘Book Per Child Initiative,’ which aims to improve literacy by providing educational materials and establishing reading clubs in schools and churches. In 2018, she published her first book, Against the Odds with proceeds supporting underprivileged children’s education.

She has built a reputation in Ghana’s media and literary space, inspiring young writers and journalists through her work. Her contributions span investigative journalism, creative writing, and mentorship, making her a role model for aspiring media professionals.

Speaking on her inclusion in the list, she expressed gratitude: “Being recognized among such powerful women is both humbling and motivating.”

The 40 Most Inspirational Female Leaders initiative seeks to spotlight women who are shaping policies and influencing industries while encouraging the next generation of leaders.
