It’s the holiday season again, which means harmattan is slowly setting in, and very soon, we will see its effect on our skin and our lips.
The lips tend to get hypersensitive and prone to dryness, lip crack, chapped, and flaky, which may cause pain and discomfort. Don’t stress! I have got your back during this season.
Read on to find out how to protect your lips during this dry season.
- Don’t Lick Your Lips.
Consistently licking your lips can rid them of natural moisture and any moisturizer you may have applied. Unfortunately, many of us are victims. To help prevent you from licking on your lips, you can chew gums or candies to keep you busy. - Drink Water.
Drinking water is not only important to the body. Your lips can also benefit from a great hydration culture.. Keeping hydrated will help stop dryness and cracking of lips. It maintains your lips’ moisture levels making them look healthier and fuller. - Eat Healthily.
To keep your body healthy and your lips healthier, eat balanced diets. Make sure you eat lots of green leafy veggies, fruits, and nuts. Reducing your intake of spicy foods and citrus fruits during this season can also help your lips. - Exfoliate Your Lips.
Don’t exfoliate only your skin but your lips too. Exfoliating at least once or twice weekly helps remove dead cells from your lips and brings out softer skin. Oh! And try the honey-sugar lip scrub and thank me later. - Lip Balm Time.
Lip balm is a friend but it can become your best friend during the dry season. Look for balms made of natural ingredients such as Shea, almond, coconut, cocoa butter, and olive oil. Keep your balms with you always. Apply a reasonable amount before work, after work, and all the periods in between when the balm wears off. Now that is how to moisturize your lips.
Follow these simple tips during this harmattan season, and your lips will be sure to thank you. Let me know if these tips were helpful in any way. Happy harmattan!
